New Beef Packing Plant in Missouri to open this Week
Missouri Ag Director Chris Chinn says America’s Heartland Packing will process 2,400 head of cattle each day, once fully operational.
“I think their plan, when they get completely up and going, is to do 1,200 head per day of cull cattle: cows and bulls, and then, the other 1,200 will be finished cattle.”
Chinn says a new processing facility adds value to cattle.
“When you look at cattle prices right now, it’s tempting for families to hold onto those cattle and really capture the true value when it comes time to ship them.”
Chinn says the beef processing plant is scheduled to open on Thursday and is located along Interstate 70 in Warren County, Missouri.
And she says Missouri’s cattle producers can work directly with America’s Heartland Packing to sell cattle and the company is also going to sale barns to purchase cattle across the state.
America’s Heartland Packing is owned by American Foods Group in Wisconsin.
